Granulated Cork – 4–6 mm
Material: Natural Cork (Quercus suber)
Grain Size: 4 to 6 mm
Appearance: Light brown, irregular granules
Density: ~100–200 kg/m³ (variable)
Description:
Granulated cork is a lightweight, renewable material made from the bark of the cork oak tree. This 4–6 mm fraction offers a coarse grain size, ideal for insulation, lightweight fillers, gaskets, pyrotechnics, and craft applications. It is chemically inert, elastic, compressible, and resistant to moisture, mildew, and many chemicals.
Applications:
Construction & Insulation
-
Used as thermal and acoustic insulation in walls, floors, and roofs
-
Fills expansion joints in concrete and other building materials
-
Lightweight aggregate in plasters or mortars
Pyrotechnics
-
Acts as a shock absorber and spacer in rocket motors and mines
-
Used in lift charges and burst delays for fragmentation buffering
-
Creates low-density effects or debris-like particles in special compositions
Crafts & Model Making
-
Ideal for terrains, dioramas, basing material (simulates bark, rocks, or dirt)
-
Can be colored or painted for visual effects in miniatures or scenery
Industrial
-
Added to rubber/plastic blends for producing gaskets, floor tiles, and vibration-dampening parts
