Description:
Magnesium Carbonate is a white, odorless, non-toxic mineral compound widely used for its absorbent, alkaline, and anti-caking properties. Occurring naturally as magnesite, it is available in both light (fluffy) and heavy (granular) grades, depending on the production method. It is chemically stable and insoluble in water, but decomposes upon strong heating, releasing CO₂ and forming magnesium oxide (MgO).

Applications:

Industrial & Chemical Use

• Acts as a filler, drying agent, or buffering additive in rubber, plastics, ceramics, and paints

• Serves as a source of magnesium in various chemical syntheses

• Used in fire retardants and heat-resistant materials due to its thermal stability

• Approved as a food additive (E504) – anti-caking agent in table salt and powdered foods

• Used as an antacid and magnesium supplement in tablets and capsules

Pyrotechnics
